Director ID
As a Company Director, you will need a Director ID.
A director identification number (director ID) is a unique identifier you will keep forever. It will help to prevent the use of false or fraudulent director identities.
You will need to apply for your Director ID yourself to verify your identity. Please note that we cannot apply on your behalf, however, if you need assistance with additional information please call our office. When you must apply for your director ID depends on the date you become a director.

Apply online
You need to apply for your own director ID. The fastest way to do this is online using the myGovId app. myGov ID is an app different to the myGOV website.

How to apply if you can not get a myGov ID:
If you can’t get a myGovID with a Standard or Strong identity strength, the best way to apply for a director ID will depend on your situation.
Apply by phone
You can apply by phone if you have:
- an Australian tax file number (TFN)
- the information you need to verify your identity.

Apply with a paper form
If you can’t apply online or over the phone, you can apply using a downloadable form –Application for a director identification number (NAT75329, PDF, 306KB). This is a slower process and you will also need to provide certified copies of your documents to verify your identity.

Now you have your Director ID, what do you do with it?
When you receive your director ID, you need to pass it on to the record-holder of your company. If Wilson Colman is your Authorised ASIC Agent and we take care of your company file for you, please email your Director ID once it is received to [email protected] .
